Whether you’re thinking about opening a business, formulating your business plan, expanding an established small business or looking for youth entrepreneurship programs, the Halton Region Small Business Centre has what you need. We work hard to ensure that all new business owners have the relevant information and support that they need to start their potential business off on the right foot.
One of the ways we reach out to potential entrepreneurs is through a series of information sessions that provide our clients with an overview of our programs and services.
One of our most popular information sessions is Getting Started. This one-hour session provides clients with an overview of all the rules and regulations needed when starting a business in Halton. Our staff will walk attendees through a checklist, including information on:
- name protection
- municipal licensing
- provincial and federal taxes
- business planning
After the session, participants are welcome to tour the Small Business Centre and browse the many other services and resources we have available for entrepreneurs.
- Starter Company Program is an entrepreneurship program geared to help young people in Ontario between the ages of 18 and 29. It provides training, mentoring and a micro-grant of up to $5,000 for eligible participants. The monthly information sessions provide an overview of the program and eligibility criteria.
- Futurpreneur Canada is a national, non-profit organization that provides financing, mentoring and support tools to aspiring business owners aged 18-39. The monthly information sessions provide an overview of the program and eligibility criteria.
If you are considering starting a small business this year, we highly recommend attending an information session. Get the information needed for a successful business and New Year!
