Just to make you feel better – you are not alone. Many people feel uncomfortable approaching, engaging or attending events where they have to talk about themselves and their business.
How can you overcome the fear?
One way is to expose yourself slowly to things that you once thought were impossible. Fear can be managed! When we do things we thought were impossible, the end result is empowerment.
The important question is: “Do you believe in your business and what it has to offer?”
What does it mean to believe in your business?
According to the dictionary the word “believe” means: “To have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so: Only if one believes in something can one act purposefully.”
In order to act on a belief, there needs to be a confidence level and an awareness of how your product or service can benefit others. It is very important that you know your product and service well enough to speak with confidence about it. Also if you truly believe in your product or service you will want to share it with others because people deserve the best. They deserve what you have to offer!
Start the ball rolling by setting some short term goals. Keep focused on the outcome and celebrate when you accomplish your goals no matter how small they may be.
Just be aware that rejection can be part of the process. It is a difficult thing to experience but on the flip side of rejection is acceptance. When you step out of your comfort zone you will experience things that you thought were impossible. That is when your confidence level will grow as well as your business.
